We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to manage, develop, and administer a portfolio of clients, taking full ownership of allocated jobs and managing your workflow. This involves maintaining an appropriate level of service to clients and producing a high standard of work. You will also be responsible for delegating and reviewing work undertaken by junior team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet productivity and client budgets, and provide value-added services to clients
  • Perform all compliance and value add work
  • Review financial accounts, FBT and income tax returns, business activity statements, instalment activity statements and any other work performed by Intermediates, Graduates, Co-Operative Students and Cadets
  • Prepare and review complex individual, company, trust, and Partnership tax returns
  • Prepare and review workpapers, analyse client data and transactions and set up accounts
  • Provide feedback, coaching and technical support to any BPCA team member working on clients
  • Provide technical support and guidance to an allocated team of Intermediates and Graduates
  • Identify and develop existing and potential business opportunities within client base
  • Report to the Manager on the performance of team members and status of client obligations and issues
  • Assist with potential and new client opportunities or initiatives such as attending client meetings, preparation of advice and presentations
  • Administrative Compliance
  • Other duties as required by the firm such as interviewing clients, attendance at training, marketing, acting as a buddy/mentor to a new member of staff, special projects, etc.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Business Services environment in a Chartered/CPA accounting practice
  • Degree qualified and nearly/fully qualified as a CA / CPA
  • Technically proficient and up to date with developments in taxation law and accounting standards, systems and processes
  • Advanced working knowledge of GST, Business Activity Statements and Instalment Activity Statements
  • Detailed knowledge of tax office correspondence and procedures
  • Thorough understanding of company secretarial matters
  • Advanced understanding of the Corporations Act, accounting standards, tax legislation
  • Ability to review the work of junior members of staff and identify any issues and opportunities for discussion
  • Previous experience working with and developing good relationships with clients.
  • Excellent time management skills and meeting deadlines for a large group of clients
  • Ability to mentor, coach, motivate and manage junior members of staff
  • Present professionally and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills Prior experience working with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel.
