JOB OVERVIEW
As an AU Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining key accounting records. Day-to-day activities include recording transactions such as income and outgoings and posting them to various accounts. Having a broad and varied role, you will need a strong sense of time management and organisational skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing day-to-day accounting transactions.
- Preparing monthly accounts.
- Reconciling bank accounts.
- Handling accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Processing payroll and related tasks.
- Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS).
- Liaising with internal accountants for annual accounts and tax queries.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or SAP.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Pro-actively raise potential risks for clients and the business based on data and observations from checks performed and provide recommendations to mitigate impacts
- Any other accounting task deemed necessary by the immediate manager
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Completion of a Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping (FNS40217) or a Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217).
- Knowledge of Australian accounting standards and regulations.
Product Knowledge
- Complete knowledge of client accounts and businesses
- General AU Accounting experience with solid background
- At least 2-3 years of experience in Australian accounting or taxation
- Knowledge with Australian Taxation and Compliance is preferred
- Knowledge with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Familiar with accounting tools such as Xero and MYOB
- Ability to learn new systems and tools as needed
- Ensures quality of work being delivered without being supervised
- Demonstrated creative and critical thinking skills
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
